“Broad Shoulders”

“My help comes from You; you’re right here pulling me through.
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness,
All on your shoulders, your shoulders.
My help comes from You; you are my rest, my rescue.
I don’t have to see to believe that You’re lifting me up on
Your shoulders, your shoulders.”   Songwriters: Ben Glover, Joel Smallbone, Tedd Tjornhom

I can’t remember a time when we were more burdened with our daily cares.  This pandemic has affected the health, wealth, activity, and the very foundation of our society, freedom.  We are fearful, distrusting of our leaders and each other.  God is our only answer, comfort, and peace giver during these days.

The lyrics above are from a song performed by For King and Country.  The song reassures us that God indeed has broad shoulders, and that He can carry all of our burdens.  We may struggle, but He does not.  It is comforting to know that He knows our most dire needs before we even voice them.  He is our rest and our rescue.  He can carry our weaknesses, sickness, and our brokenness with ease.  Nothing is too difficult for God to lift from us.  We can find hope and encouragement even during this unprecedented time.  Anita Donihue puts it this way, “Do you ever feel like you want to unload all of your frustrations, doubts, and fears?  Bring those needs to Jesus.  He has broad shoulders and understands.”

I pray you will seek out those shoulders this week.  When you feel you can’t go on, He can.

“I have loved you, O my people, with an everlasting love; with loving kindness I have drawn you to me.”  Jeremiah 31:3
