“For Such a Time as This”
June 28, 2020

Singer and songwriter, Wayne Watson, wrote the song,

“For Such a Time as This”, and featured it on his album,

The Way Home, in 1998.  I heard him say in an interview

that he performed the song at his son’s high school

graduation ceremony, and felt the lyrics fitting for the

“For such a time as this, you were placed upon the earth,

to hear the voice of  God, and do His will, whatever it is.

For such a time as this, for now and all the days He gives;

I am here, I am here, and I am His…for such a time as this.”

The famous scripture in the book of Esther, has inspired

countless sermons, poems, essays, and in this case, a

song.  I heard Allen Jackson preach on this passage to a

youth group once, and I still remember his points:

1.  There is a danger in being Silent

2.  There is a danger in Speaking Up

3.  God has a plan, either way

I guess we can all benefit from contemplating our

place here, at this time.  What does

God expect from us, during these trying times?  Are we

seeking God’s voice, doing His will, whatever it is?  Do we

know when to be silent, and when to speak up?  Are we

faithful to God’s leadership, and have faith in His plans

for us, here and now?  As Wayne’s song plays in my

mind, my prayer is that I will know God’s voice, and live

out His will, daily and for all time, even such a time as this.

Esther 4:14   “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and

deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but

you and your father’s house will perish.  And who knows

whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a

time as this?”
